The Parent Café is a family-based and parent led program designed to facilitate peer-to-peer learning around five evidence-based protective factors that improve resilience and strengthen supports within families: Resilience: Be strong and flexible. Relationships: Caregivers need friends.

Cafes engage participants in conversations about what matters most to their families and communities. Rich dialogue on how to strengthen our families and communities are intentionally evoked by using the Protective Factors as a tool to create strategies that will help build strong families and communities. These monthly Parent Cafes are an important tools to help participants find community resources, positive support, and coping techniques as a way to build a stronger village for all. The camaraderie formed by these cafes helps build stronger communities in DC. Parent Cafes are spaces where our local DC families gather together and speak freely in their own language.
