2023 Put Tenants First
May 9-11th, 2023
Grassroots Housing Justice Tour and Campaign Tenant leaders and local grassroots organizations have partnered with Community Change Action to lead a national tour, Put Tenants First: Grassroots Housing Justice Tour, featuring a series of conversations, site visits, and town halls in Lafayette, Louisiana; Cottage Grove, Oregon; and Akron, Ohio with a final stop in Washington, D.C. to meet with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia L. Fudge and Members of Congress. Tenant leaders and organizers are advocating for the following:
1- CARE for people experiencing homelessness.
2- HEALTH and safety within every HUD-subsidized home, holding landlords accountable for maintaining housing quality standards that impact the health and well-being of families.
3- TENANT ORGANIZING
4- FUNDING for housing programs that create access to affordable housing.
